Native Plant Gardening at Home

  • Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens 151 Brookdale Road Stamford, CT 06903 (map)

A native plant garden primer just in time for the Bartlett Plant Sale:

The Bartlett’s Native Plant Shade Garden was designed to offer inspiration and be an example for home gardeners looking to introduce sustainable landscaping and gardening habits into their lives. Gardening with native plants— the “right plant, right place” philosophy—is the best way to encourage biodiversity and provide habitats and havens for beneficial species and pollinators. It is also much less complicated than you may think it is!

Join us in the Native Plant Shade Garden to learn more about native plants and how to incorporate them into your home gardening plans. BONUS: This talk will also discuss the upcoming Bartlett Plant Sale inventory, giving you a head start on that busy day!

We will meet in the Native Plant Shade Garden, located behind the Silver Education Building and to the left of the driveway as you enter, near the parking spaces. If you park in the main lot, there are property maps available at the Trailhead hut.

This tour is FREE for Bartlett members and just $10 for non-members. Pre-registration is required. Interested in becoming a member? Learn more here.
