American Sycamore (Platanus occidentalis) — Full sun; Average to wet, well-drained soil; 75-100 feet tall; Good shade tree, exfoliating bark, showy fruit

Box Elder (Acer negundo) — Full sun; Wet, well-drained, moist soil; Tolerant of drought and air pollution; 30-60 feet tall; Yellow-green flowers in spring; Seeds food source for birds and squirrels

Korean Evodia (Evodia daniellii) — Tree; Full sun; Soil: Rich loamy; Moisture: Moist, well-drained soil; Deciduous, small to medium size, vase-shaped, 25՛ to 30ʹ, but can get larger; Foliage glossy green, greenish-yellow in fall; White flowers in flat clusters 4″ to 6″ across, bloom July and August; Fruit capsules change from red to black late Aug-Nov; Attracts birds, butterflies and bees

Silver Maple (Acer saccharinum) — Full Sun; Well-drained, moist soil; Will tolerate poor soil conditions; 30-60 feet in a vase shape; Grows rapidly; Good fall color; Buds provide food for squirrels in spring

Pussy Willow (Salix discolor) — Sun; Tolerates most soils; 20-25 feet tall; Flower catkins in spring; Attracts bees, birds and butterflies (Red-spotted Purple and Viceroys)

Sweetgum (Liquidambar styraciflua) — Tree; Full sun to part shade; Soil: Rich, loamy; Moisture: Moist, well-drained soil; Deciduous, 60՛ to 80ʹ, aromatic, fast growing, fruit spiny “gumballs”, fall color purple and red; Flowers non-showy, yellow-green (tinged with red); Blooms early to mid-spring; Attracts birds; Not very drought-tolerant

Umbrella Magnolia (Magnolia tripetala) — Tree; Full sun, or light, partial shade; Soil: Rich, loamy; Moisture: Moist, well-drained soil; Deciduous small to medium-sized tree, 15՛ to 30ʹ tall; Flowers creamy white; Blooms May and early June; Foliage may turn yellow and brown before dropping
