Herbarium and Research
As of July 1 2010, the Bartlett Arboretum Herbarium is closed while its new home is constructed. The Herbarium will reopen to members in mid 2011. Loans are still available to qualified researchers, and specimens are accesible to members by contacting herbarium staff in advance so they may be retrieved from storage.

Thank You

Since 2006, the Bartlett Arboretum has pursued research as a vital part of the Arboretum's daily activities. Many are surprised to hear that the Arboretum's original purpose when used as the headquarters of the Bartlett Tree Company in the late 19th and early 20th century was to perform cutting edge research in the field.

Today, the Arboretum's research program falls into several categories including floristics, plant ecology and invasive species. Since 2006, staff at the Bartlett have published several scientific papers. For details on our research projects and our herbarium, please visit the individual pages for these areas.
