Hamelia patens, commonly known as firebush, this native of Florida, and the American tropics can be seen in full bloom in the Bartlett tropical garden all summer. A great plant for attracting hummingbirds.

This native plant is a close relative of the milkweed seen growing along roadsides. A great butterfly plant, Asclepias incarnata can be seen growing in the red maple swamp at the Bartlett Arboretum
