Early Spring Wildflowers Tour

Noted botanist, author and former New York Botanical Society lecturer, Carol Levine, will give a guided tour of the Bartlett's early spring wildflowers highlighting our native species. The tour will also include the Red Maple wetlands boardwalk and the meadow; and starts in front of the Silver Education Center. Some of the trails are uneven, with exposed tree roots, so flat, comfortable shoes are recommended. The tour should last approximately 90 minutes.

Enjoying the hiking trails at the Arboretum or gardening in your own backyard is a great reward after the dreary days of this past cold winter. When outdoors, remembering that the critters we share nature with may support harmful ticks is very important. Dr. Neeta Connally, Assistant Professor of Medical Entomology at Western Connecticut State University will offer insights and strategies which will help you reduce your chances of getting Lyme or other tick borne diseases.

Perennial Gardens Tour

Learn what to plant in sunny or shady locales in your garden this Sunday when Advanced Master Gardeners Nedra Gillette Cathy Lynch and Beth Miller will introduce visitors to the Cottage Garden, pre-Sandy a shade garden; the Perennial Boarder, a part shade to sun garden; and the Sundial Garden which is in full sun. They will identify the various early Spring perennials and bulbs currently in bloom and answer your gardening questions. Meet in the front of the Silver Education Center at 11 a.m.
