Classical Summer Concert - Batmyagmar Erdenebat

A Mongolian violinist, Batmyagmar Erdenebat began his career in classical music when he was encouraged to take up the viola by his first teacher. Continuing his education in Italy, Mr. Erdenebat’s studied with Trio di Trieste and Trio di Parma. His global trotting career includes performances in Croatia, Austria and Italy as well as across the United States including Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall with the Oberlin Illumination Tour Orchestra, New Haven Symphony Orchestra and Canton Symphony Orchestra. He has won top prizes at La Musica Nella Scoula and Paolo Spincich competitions in Italy, he was awarded second prize at the American Viola Society Orchestral Excerpts Competition in 2013. Mr. Erdenebat is also passionate about teaching and conducting and has served as conductor to the New Haven All City Honors Ensembles and Morse Summer Music Academy of the Yale School of Music. A graduate of Oberlin Conservatory as a student Peter Slowik, he holds a Master of Music degree from the Yale University School of Music where he studied with Ettore Cause.

Herb Garden and Fern Allee Tours

Linda N. Albanese, noted amateur herbalist and member of the American Herb Society, with other Master Gardeners responsible for the design and maintenance of the Herb Garden, will be available to discuss specific herbs located in the four quadrants, representing culinary, medicinal, fragrance and economic uses. Following the Herb discussion, there will be a tour of the new Fern Allee, just recently planted with a variety of native and imported ferns. The tours should last approximately 60 minutes in total. Meet in the front of the Silver Education Center at 11 a.m.

Animal Investigation
This is the week for animal lovers. We’ll study and learn about a different animal group every day. We will have some special visitors bring in animals for campers to meet up close. We’ll do some basic birding, look for animal tracks throughout our woods, and look for animal homes on the property.

Summer Pop Concert - Haley Reardon

Haley Reardon won Boston Magazine’s 2012 Bostonian of the Year for encouraging teen empowerment through her music. While still in high school, Haley has been referred to as “a seasoned folk artist”. “Upon the release of her latest CD, Wayfindings (Kingswood Records), iTunes Editor’s Notes cited “the fact that her music is not American Idol-like pop but in the singer/songwriter tradition of Suzanne Vega, Tracy Chapman, Erin McKeown, and Mary Chapin Carpenter”.

Summer Pop Concert - Cookie Thomas

The Stamford Advocate & Greenwich Time say that Cookie Thomas’ voice is “smoother than a triple latte hold the cinnamon”. Inspired by BB King, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and other classic artists Thomas is a versatile vocalist who performs the best of all the classic standards.

Perennial Gardens Tour

11:00 a.m. Tour the various formal perennial gardens at the Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens Advanced Master Gardeners Nedra Gillette, Cathy Lynch and Beth Miller will introduce visitors to the Cottage Garden, pre-Sandy a shade garden; the Perennial Boarder, a part shade to sun garden; and the Sundial Garden which is in full sun. They will identify the various Summer perennials currently in bloom and answer your gardening questions. The tour should last approximately 60 minutes. Meet in the front of the Silver Education Center at 11 a.m..

Summer Pop Concert - The Subourbons!

The Subourbons get together just to enjoy playing music that ranges from classic rock to the blues, to folk & modern music. The casual camaraderie began in a basement and has followed them onto stages around the area. Check out the spontaneous fun!

Summer Pop Concerts - Orrin Star & the Sultans of Swing

Orrin Star is an award-winning guitar, banjo and mandolin player who’s also entertaining. With music ranging from fiddle tunes to topical ballads to western swing, and storytelling both sharp and droll, he has been described as ‘Arlo Guthrie-meets-Doc Watson’.
