Moss & Lichen Lab
Mar 12, 2014
CLOSED 10:00 a.m.-Noon
When flowers and butterflies just can't be found, you can still enjoy your time outdoors by changing your focus. Mosses and lichens are important elements in many ecosystems and are beautiful in their own right - what would a Pacific rainforest be without them? Their small size tends to leave them overlooked by most hikers, but in this hike and lecture, mosses and lichens will get the appreciation they are due. We'll learn a bit about their evolution and biology, how birds and other wildlife use them, how they can be used in gardening, and how to recognize the most common species in our area.

For more information please go to MOSS AND LICHEN LAB

Art Class - Drawing Natural Forms of Life
Mar 05, 2014 Thru May 28, 2014
Wednesday mornings 9:30-11:30
Learn to develop a natural, individual drawing style using forms from nature as your subject. Through close observation we will examine various types of organic forms and explore each form's unique qualities. Movement, use of positive and negative space, exaggeration, choice of composition and employment of light are some of the means of imparting individual character to natural forms. Water color, pencil, pen and ink and charcoal are the materials that will lead us to our discoveries. The cost is $20. Please email Kathie Milligan at for more information.
