Bartlett Arboretum Forest

The Bartlett Arboretum forest is over 70 acres of secondary forest, comprised mainly of Beech and Maple. Within its boundaries are an impressive diversity of species of over 300 vascular plants and over 60 bryophytes. In Spring, one can see populations of skunk cabbage (Symplocarpus foetidus), jack in the pulpit (Arisaema triphyllum), and ginseng (Panax quinquefolius). In summer Cardinal flower (Lobelia cardinalis) and Turtlehead (Chelone glabra) bloom in the swampy areas of the forest while fall brings an array of colorful foliage to enjoy.

While many people come to the Arboretum to enjoy our planted collections, the forest is a highlight of many visitors' trips.
