Storm Damage from Sandy

Thank you to Bartlett Tree Company for coming to our rescue and cleaning up the fallen trees!

A weekend at the Bartlett Arboretum just before Sandy’s arrival saw over 2000 local children
and their families enjoying the fun of the free aMAZEing Halloween event with a hay maze, face painting,
magician, pumpkin painting, crafts and more.

Just 24 hours later... we were lucky that our children’s educator Brad Nagle, his new wife Allie and their two shelter dogs were not seriously injured when a towering 100 year old pine dissected the roof above their bedroom in the Bartlett Cottage. Shaken as they were sitting in the living room just below the bedroom, they sought shelter in the basement of the Silver Educational Center to ride out the storm. We are thankful for those who have reached out to offer them a warm place to stay. The cottage is destroyed and the property lost over two dozen trees to the winds and sustained damage to fences, lighting, signage and more. Insurance will help recover some of our losses, but, as you can guess, never all. Fortunately, our staff and the Nagles are all safe... other losses can be repaired or replaced.

Our Annual Appeal was being printed and prepared to mail prior to the hurricane.... BUT NOW WE MAKE THIS EXTRA APPEAL FOR YOUR SUPPORT! As you consider your donation for this year’s appeal, please give generously to help us preserve and restore all that you treasure at the Bartlett Arboretum.

YOUR GIFT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE NEW DAYS TO COME!
