Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens: Your Gifts at Work
Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens is a non-profit organization and
relies on the generosity and support of its many friends – individuals,
corporations and foundations – to provide the financial resources
that are vital to the care, preservation and improvements to the
arboretum’s horticultural collections; enhancements to its
educational programming for kids, adults and families; and the overall
maintenance and upkeep of its facilities. Your contribution
to the Bartlett Arboretum helps to support the following:
Education
The Bartlett Arboretum provides a wide range of hands-on educational
opportunities ranging from after-school programs and summer nature
camps for kids to master gardening and horticulture classes for the
adult learner. It also offers seasonal art exhibits,
lectures, concerts and other cultural events – all open to
the public.
Living Museum of Unusual and Unique Plants
The arboretum’s 91 acres of specimen plants, beautifully managed
gardens and wooded trails are open and accessible to the public every
day of the year. As a living museum of woody plants, Bartlett
Arboretum displays gardens and landscapes that focus on the regional
plants, ecology and character of Southwestern New England. Through
the management and design of its collections, the Arboretum provides
the public with an opportunity to experience life in an environmentally
responsible manner, in harmony with the natural world.
Located in the historic and beautiful Bartlett family homestead,
the Visitors’ Center offers information on the arboretum’s
trails and activities in addition to an extensive botanical resource
library. Central to the arboretum’s mission is to provide
the people with opportunities for hands-on education, cultural growth,
enjoyment and recreation.
The Master Plan and Our Future
The Bartlett Arboretum Board of Directors completed a long-range
master plan for the arboretum’s programs, grounds and facilities. These
plans include strategies to enhance its educational programs and
services; rebuild and improve the arboretum’s existing visitor
and classroom facilities; maintain and expand its botanical collections;
and focus the arboretum’s mission well into this century.
Gifts to the arboretum help to advance all of these initiatives
and more.
