On exhibit in the Visitor Center Gallery: “On the Ground & In the Air”

Sculptures in the landscape, paintings of light & movement, drawings that depict the human condition & photographs that reflect a momentary vision. This is the palette of form, color and gesture that artist Sheree Kaslikowski brings to life through her work. Originally a native of Stamford, CT, a long time resident of Manhattan and currently residing in San Francisco, Sheree has exhibited nationally & internationally in a variety of media. Her dance & piano improvisations are parallel components to & mutually inspire her visual art forms.
Currently, a hand carved, marble sculpture in three forms entitled,”Of the Fragile, Of the Strong”, by the artist can be viewed ongoing in the Conifer Garden at the Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens in Stamford, CT. Beginning May 5, and extending through June 8, 2008, Sheree’s watercolor expressions of leafy green life inspired by nature walks will be exhibited in the Bartlett Arboretum Visitor Center Gallery. The opening reception for this sculpture & painting exhibition entitled, “On the Ground & In the Air” is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, 2008 from 3-6 PM.
Kaslikowski received the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Inc. Grant & the Adolph & Esther Gottlieb Foundation Grant in 1997. Sheree worked as an artist in residence at Socrates Sculpture Park in NY, at the Bay Area Discovery Museum in CA, the Vermont Studio Center & Lookout Sculpture Park in PA. “How” magazine published several of Kaslikowski’s computer paintings & drawings in 1991 & she received an Honorable Mention for Sculpture at California Works ‘81. While a student at SHS, Sheree received the Jo Anne Fiore Memorial Art Award, and later graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Fine Arts from the University of New Hampshire. Her early painting was exhibited in Landmark Square in Stamford, CT followed by sculpture, painting, drawing & photography exhibitions in Boston, New Hampshire, California, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Italy & France. Sheree has also designed, directed & instructed Sculpture Gardens, Art Parks, Murals & Fine Arts programs for urban youth on the east & west coasts; beginning in 1973, at 32 diverse areas for the City of Stamford, CT. Her first life-sized sculpture was constructed at SHS in 1972.
The Visitor Center Gallery is located on the grounds of the Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens at 151 Brookdale Rd., Stamford, CT and is open Monday-Friday from 9AM to 4PM, call for weekend hours.
