Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens
Education: School and Scout Programs
As part of their quest to achieve the prestigious rank
of Eagle Scout, two local Boy Scouts recently selected the Bartlett
as the site for the Community Service project they are required to
complete.
Colin
McLeod presented us with six beautifully made Adirondack chairs for
the grounds as his project. They will undoubtedly be well used by our
members and visitors as a respite from walking the trails, as a perch
from which to look over the gardens, and as a comfortable spot to sit
and read.
Eric Lockwood used the Bartlett's computerized engraving
machine
to create 147 new labels for the trees on our grounds. His efforts not only
replaced older deteriorating labels, but standardized the material and presentation
of information of these important passive education tools across the collection.
Both young men were a joy to work with and a credit to their troops and scouting.
We thank them for their gifts and for letting us be a part of their quest to
attain the rank of Eagle Scout.
