Volunteer Opportunities
Do you have a green thumb - or wish you had one? Give us some
of your time (2-3 hours a week), bring your gardening experience
and help us keep the Bartlett beautiful. Beginning April 15 till
the end of the growing season volunteers can learn and work alongside
our staff and CT Master Gardeners by
- Adopting an annual flower garden to help with
planting, mulching, watering, fertilizing, weeding and deadheading
- Joining the Perennial Border Crew and learn
how to divide, move, replant, and prune perennials
- Helping to plant and tend (and harvest) our organic Camp
Vegetable and Cut Flower Garden
- Helping to maintain our High Ridge Road Meadow by
controlling invasive plants and learning about our native plant
communities
Perhaps you like to spend time outdoors (and get a great workout
in the process) but are not into ‘horticulture’. Take
a weekly hike and help maintain our trail system or join our ‘special
projects maintenance crew’
In addition, consider the following ongoing Volunteer
Opportunities:
- Greenhouse – care for our permanent collections
and help propagate plants for the grounds. We ask you to
make a commitment of 2-3 hours a week, any day including weekends
- Docent – get trained as a Docent and introduce
visitors to the Bartlett (Docent tours are given on Sundays June
through September)
- Work on plant identification signs for our grounds
- Staff our library
- Use your computer skills to enter information in our plant
data base
- Use your organizational talents and join a Special Events
Committee to work on our Plant Symposium, Spring
Plant Sale, Summer Concerts, Fall Plant Sale or Holiday Family
Festival
- Special Events also offer many one time volunteer opportunities – please
