The Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens Visitor Center Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9:00am-4:00pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00am-3:00pm. From Francine Funke The Flower Power Series symbolizes the persistence of nature in it's most elemental form. I am inspired by the remarkable and ever-changing wonders of nature and the way in which the beauty of flowers nourishes the human spirit. Flowers are a resplendent beacon, whose powerful light continues to glow in a sometimes dark and troubled universe.
The Flower Power Series explores a wide variety of floral and botanical forms, and the myriad ways I express them artistically. My paintings on canvas and works on paper have a unique, 3-dimensional quality, which is created by the use of dimensional paint and aniline dyes. This 3-D concept is explored again in my pop-up, cut paper, whimsical floral representations.
The Flower Power Series also includes my recent series of photographic combines, in which original photography and multiple image layering, are used to create dramatic and mystical bouquets which are defined by both intense clarity and subtle shadows.
