Propagating Woody Plants at Home
Are you interested in learning the fundamentals of woody plant propagation?
Join us for a hands-on workshop led by educator William Carter, where you will be introduced to the essential principles and techniques of stem-cutting propagation. The session will begin with a concise, informative presentation covering the science behind stem cutting propagation, the characteristics of suitable plant material, and best practices for successful rooting.
Following the instructional portion, participants will engage in a guided, practical activity to assemble their own take-home propagation unit, complete with the materials needed to begin rooting cuttings at home. Weather permitting, the workshop will conclude with a brief outdoor walk to collect stem cuttings from plant species that root readily during the winter season. This field component will provide an opportunity to apply newly learned skills in selecting and preparing viable cuttings.
Online registration will be added here in the coming days. $30 for members, $40 for nonmembers.
