Camp Bart 2026

Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens’ summer camp programs provide an immersive experience in the natural world through guided exploration of the Arboretum’s 93 acres of forests and gardens. Each program features hands-on learning and integrates STEAM principles (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) in developmentally appropriate ways. Every camp week is centered around a nature-focused theme, with daily activities designed to match. Ample time is also built into each day for creative expression and play.

Open to students entering kindergarten through sixth grade.

Camp Bart Registration Update

Thank you for your interest in Camp Bart! While online registration has now closed, there may still be limited openings in select camp sessions.

To inquire about availability, please email Laurie Rivera at lrivera@bartlettarboretum.org. Laurie will be happy to check for open spots and, if space is available, will send you a registration link along with the Camp Bart Parent Handbook and everything you’ll need to complete your registration.

  • Session 1: Water Wonders

    June 22nd - June 26th

    Kick off the summer by exploring the Arboretum’s watery worlds! Campers will wade into cool, shallow streams to investigate aquatic plants and animals, stroll along the wetland boardwalk to spot birds, turtles, and other reptiles, and use nets to discover frogs, tadpoles, insects, and hidden pond creatures. Back on the Great Lawn, campers will enjoy fun water play activities to stay cool and have a blast.

  • Session 2: Feathers & Flight

    June 29th - July 3rd

    From birds soaring overhead to butterflies fluttering by and dragonflies darting through the gardens, campers will explore the science and magic of flight. They’ll discover how animals take to the air, experiment with airplane making, and test their skills with exciting egg drop challenges. With binoculars for spotting, fun outdoor games, and colorful crafts, each day will be packed with hands-on adventures and a soaring sense of curiosity!

  • Session 3: Garden Explorers

    July 6th - July 10th

    Plants have shaped human life for thousands of years, providing food, shelter, medicine, clothing, art, and even inspiration for spiritual practices. This week, campers will unleash their creativity with plant-inspired crafts, explore the wonders of the natural world, and discover a deeper appreciation for the trees, flowers, and greenery throughout the Bartlett Arboretum.

  • Session 4: Bugs & Beasts

    July 13th - July 17th

    Dive into the world of insects and mammals! Campers will discover how bees, butterflies, beetles, and other bugs live and work in their habitats, while also learning about the habits and behaviors of the mammals that share the same spaces. Through hands-on exploration, safe observation, and fun outdoor activities, campers will get up close with these fascinating creatures and see how every bug and animal plays an important role in nature.

  • Session 5: Nature Artists

    July 20th - July 24th

    Explore the wonders of nature and get inspired to create and discover! Campers will collect natural and recyclable materials and use them to craft, build, and experiment with hands-on projects. Along the way, they’ll learn practical ways to care for the environment and practice being thoughtful, responsible stewards of the natural world.

  • Session 6: Forest Explorers

    July 27th - July 31st

    Step into the woods and uncover the secrets of the forest! Campers will hike trails, observe plants and wildlife, and investigate the many layers of the forest ecosystem. Through hands-on activities and outdoor adventures, they’ll learn how trees, animals, and insects interact, develop observation skills, and gain a deeper appreciation for the natural world around them.

  • Session 7: Arboretum Archaeologists & Geologists

    August 3rd - August 7th

    Travel back in time and uncover the stories hidden in rocks, soil, and fossils! Campers will hunt for interesting stones, dig for “fossil” treasures, and explore the history written in the earth beneath their feet. Through hands-on activities and discoveries, they’ll learn about geology, paleontology, and the ways humans and nature have shaped the world over thousands of years.

  • Session 8: Wilderness Survivors

    August 10th - August 14th

    Wrap up the summer by taking your love of nature to the next level! Campers will build confidence in the outdoors by learning beginner wilderness survival skills, including orienteering, animal tracking, knot tying, making cordage from natural materials, water purification, and constructing temporary shelters. Of course, no week would be complete without a cozy campfire and delicious s’mores to celebrate all their new skills!

    • The camp is open for those entering Kindergarten through entering Sixth grade.

    • Campers are split into one of two groups, either the K-3 group or 3-6 group. Each group has 20 campers in it, led by one Bartlett Educator and two additional counselors.

      • Those entering 3rd grade have the option to enroll in either section, depending on preference and availability.

    • Most camp days will follow the schedule below:

      • Lunch

      • Outdoor Recess

      • Themed Activity #3

      • Themed Activity #4

      • Dismissal / Outdoor freeplay

    • Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM.

    • Camp Drop-off: 8:45 AM - 9:00 AM

    • Camp Pick-up: 2:45 PM - 3:00 PM.

    • Extended evening hours: 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.

      • Offered at an additional $40/day

  • Clothing:

    • Campers will be outdoors daily, except in extreme heat or rain. Please dress them in weather-appropriate clothing that is okay to get dirty.

    • Closed-toed, water-friendly, and durable shoes are recommended for walking through gardens and muddy trails. A hat and sunglasses are suggested for sun protection.

    • Please send a labeled extra set of clothes (shirt, shorts/pants, socks, underwear) in a bag. This can stay in their backpack or at camp for the week.

    • During Session 1: Water Wonders and on select days throughout the summer, campers may have the opportunity to enjoy water play. If your child would like to participate, please pack a bathing suit and a towel.

    Sunscreen & Bugspray:

    • Please apply sunscreen and bug spray (if desired) to your child each morning before camp, as staff are not permitted to do so, unless the sunscreen waiver is signed. If your child can apply them independently, you may pack these items in their daily supplies, but staff cannot assist with the application.

    Food & Water:

    • The Bartlett Arboretum does not provide lunch for campers, only a healthy snack each morning. Please send your child each day with a HEALTHY, nut-free, shellfish-free, and sesame seed oil-free lunch. 

    • Each child should bring a refillable water bottle, which can be refilled throughout the day at the Silver Educational Center. Campers will carry their bottles during outdoor activities, so they should be comfortable and easy to manage. 

    Technology:

    • Campers who bring cell phones or other electronic devices should plan to leave them in their backpacks during the day. 

    • Campers may use cell phones only to contact their parents when needed.

    Personal Items and Toys:

    • Campers may bring personal items and toys to use during designated ‘Free Play’ periods (morning arrival, after lunch, or during dismissal).

    •  Please note that Bartlett is not responsible for any lost or damaged items. If a personal item becomes a distraction during the camp day, a counselor may hold onto it temporarily and return it at dismissal.

    • Members: $435/week

      • An active membership is required at the time of registration and must remain active for the entire duration of your child’s camp attendance.Camp discounts apply to Family memberships and higher.

    • Member Extended Hours: $36.00/day or $180/week

    • Non-Members: $475/week

    • Non-Member Extended Hours: $40.00/day or $200/week

  • All withdrawal requests must be emailed to edu@bartlettarboretum.orgby the specified dates.

    • On or before May 4th, 2026

      • Eligible for a full refund minus a $25 cancellation fee per camper.

    • May 5 – June 1, 2026

      • Eligible for a 50% refund minus a $25 cancellation fee per camper.

    • On or after June 2, 2026

      • Not eligible for a refund unless an emergency situation is approved by the Camp Director. Emergency requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and documentation may be required.

    Illness, Absences, and Missed Days:

    • Campers who miss camp due to illness are not eligible for refunds.

    • Partial attendance, absences, or missed days for any reason are not refundable.

    • Campers who are ineligible to attend due to incomplete paperwork will not receive a refund for missed time.
