Camp Bart 2026

Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens’ summer camp programs provide an immersive experience in the natural world through guided exploration of the Arboretum’s 93 acres of forests and gardens. Each program features hands-on learning and integrates STEAM principles (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) in developmentally appropriate ways. Every camp week is centered around a nature-focused theme, with daily activities designed to match. Ample time is also built into each day for creative expression and play.

  • Session 1: Water Wonders

    June 22nd - June 26th

    Kick off the summer by exploring the Arboretum’s watery worlds! Campers will wade into cool, shallow streams to investigate aquatic plants and animals, stroll along the wetland boardwalk to spot birds, turtles, and other reptiles, and use nets to discover frogs, tadpoles, insects, and hidden pond creatures. Back on the Great Lawn, campers will enjoy fun water play activities to stay cool and have a blast.

  • Session 2: Feathers & Flight

    June 29th - July 3rd

    From birds soaring overhead to butterflies fluttering by and dragonflies darting through the gardens, campers will explore the science and magic of flight. They’ll discover how animals take to the air, experiment with airplane making, and test their skills with exciting egg drop challenges. With binoculars for spotting, fun outdoor games, and colorful crafts, each day will be packed with hands-on adventures and a soaring sense of curiosity!

  • Session 3: Garden Explorers

    July 6th - July 10th

    Plants have shaped human life for thousands of years, providing food, shelter, medicine, clothing, art, and even inspiration for spiritual practices. This week, campers will unleash their creativity with plant-inspired crafts, explore the wonders of the natural world, and discover a deeper appreciation for the trees, flowers, and greenery throughout the Bartlett Arboretum.

  • Session 4: Bugs & Beasts

    July 13th - July 17th

    Dive into the world of insects and mammals! Campers will discover how bees, butterflies, beetles, and other bugs live and work in their habitats, while also learning about the habits and behaviors of the mammals that share the same spaces. Through hands-on exploration, safe observation, and fun outdoor activities, campers will get up close with these fascinating creatures and see how every bug and animal plays an important role in nature.

  • Session 5: Nature Artists

    July 20th - July 24th

    Explore the wonders of nature and get inspired to create and discover! Campers will collect natural and recyclable materials and use them to craft, build, and experiment with hands-on projects. Along the way, they’ll learn practical ways to care for the environment and practice being thoughtful, responsible stewards of the natural world.

  • Session 6: Forest Explorers

    July 27th - July 31st

    Step into the woods and uncover the secrets of the forest! Campers will hike trails, observe plants and wildlife, and investigate the many layers of the forest ecosystem. Through hands-on activities and outdoor adventures, they’ll learn how trees, animals, and insects interact, develop observation skills, and gain a deeper appreciation for the natural world around them.

  • Session 7: Arboretum Archaeologists & Geologists

    August 3rd - August 7th

    Travel back in time and uncover the stories hidden in rocks, soil, and fossils! Campers will hunt for interesting stones, dig for “fossil” treasures, and explore the history written in the earth beneath their feet. Through hands-on activities and discoveries, they’ll learn about geology, paleontology, and the ways humans and nature have shaped the world over thousands of years.

  • Session 8: Wilderness Survivors

    August 10th - August 14th

    Wrap up the summer by taking your love of nature to the next level! Campers will build confidence in the outdoors by learning beginner wilderness survival skills, including orienteering, animal tracking, knot tying, making cordage from natural materials, water purification, and constructing temporary shelters. Of course, no week would be complete without a cozy campfire and delicious s’mores to celebrate all their new skills!

    • Members: $435/week

      • An active membership is required at the time of registration and must remain active for the entire duration of your child’s camp attendance. Camp discounts apply to Family memberships and higher.

    • Non-members: $475/week

    • Extended Hours: $40.00/day or $200/week

  • Camp Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Drop off begins at 8:45am. Extended hours will be offered at an additional cost: 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.

    Ages: Campers must be entering kindergarten through 6th grade.

    Attire: Campers should dress appropriately for the weather. In inclement or extremely hot weather, we will continue our nature exploration in the air-conditioned environment of the Silver Educational Center. Please apply sunscreen to your child before drop off and provide them with sunscreen to reapply during the day.

    Food: Snacks are provided each day. Campers should bring a nut, shellfish, and sesame oil free lunch. Refillable water bottles should be brought.
