GrowMobile: Bringing Nature Education to you!

The Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens’ GrowMobile brings a bit of the Arboretum to community members who may not be able to visit the grounds. Our educators deliver hands-on environmental lessons directly into the community—visiting schools, libraries, senior centers, residential facilities, shelters, after-school programs, and local events to inspire environmental stewardship in learners of all ages and abilities.

Over the past year, more than 180 GrowMobile programs have reached thousands of students and community members. These interactive lessons explore topics such as vegetable and herb gardening, plant and animal life cycles, eco-art, sustainability, and much more. Each program is thoughtfully designed to meet the needs and interests of its participants.

GrowMobile visits with partner organizations occur anywhere from weekly to annually, depending on the program. Every session concludes with a hands-on activity that participants can take home, helping connect people of all ages and backgrounds to the natural world around them.

Throughout the growing season, the GrowMobile team also plants and maintains vegetable gardens around town, providing healthy organic food and meaningful outdoor learning opportunities to the most vulnerable and underserved members of our community.

At its heart, the Bartlett’s Outreach Department seeks to plant the seeds of lifelong curiosity and care for our planet and all who call it home.
